We’re deeply disappointed not to be together this week for one last glitter drop at Last Call: An OBERON Goodnight. A number of the artists who were scheduled to take the stage shared with us some of their favorite OBERON memories. We celebrate them–and everyone who has been a part of the inventive artistry and incredible community that flourished in the space at 2 Arrow Street. Thank you for some of the wildest, weirdest, and most glitter-filled nights ever imagined. Til we meet again...

“‘Oh my god, we had so much fun’ … It was envisioned as a black box theater for the 21st century. On the nights that The Donkey Show wasn’t playing, anything could happen. There was a musical performed on roller skates, and a really popular trivia night, and something called ‘polly speed dating. The A.R.T. staged an early version of the musical Once… But what defined OBERON was its accessibility to local artists."

OBERON, a theater haven for the local and the fringe, closes its doors At OBERON, a theater with nightclub vibes, the American Repertory Theater provided an accessible venue to local performers. But the pandemic and a planned move to Allston prompted the A.R.T. to prematurely close its beloved second stage.

Audience, artist, and staff safety is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and in recognition of shifting disease dynamics, December programming at OBERON, the final events to have been presented at the 2 Arrow Street space, have been cancelled.

We are all deeply disappointed to not be able to share with you the live experience of these shows, and we apologize for any inconvenience these cancellations may cause.

Prioritizing health & safety, potential virtual goodbye opportunities to the 2 Arrow Street space are currently being considered.

We encourage everyone to do everything they can to stay well and to support the public health of their communities.

After 2020 stole our holiday gatherings in proper Scrooge fashion, The Sweetback Sisters are delighted to be back onstage with an explosion of yuletide splendor! See you Friday!
