I'm working hard this very snowy day, not really minding the snow piling up outside. Then I hear Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville through the radio speaker.
Brutal.

I have stocked up as best as I can but this might cause for some serious delays especially for specialty and custom work.
Joann closing all its stores leaving fabric artists scrambling Seamstresses and fabric artists are searching for new fabric sources after Joann announced that it's closing all of its stores.

These jeans were a gift to a young man over the holidays but the first time he wore them one of the metal studs fell off. I realized that it wasn't attached properly in the first place and the prongs holding it on were not repairable so I needed to special order a new stud (and some extra in case others fall off too). Repair made, Rock on!!!

We love our pooches but we do not love when they tear holes in things such as jackets and blankets. This blanket came to me with a hole so large that it couldn't be stitched up so I had to find an appropriate patch option. My son helped me find a grey fabric that was a decent match and home we went for some blanket first aid! Patch made, patch sewn and blanket ready for use.
When the damage is so bad that a patch is required there is no way to entirely hide it. I do everything I can to minimize it's visibility but it's still there and you will still see it.

Wedding solutions part 3: Hemming (same bridal gown)
Many formal dresses are made with unique hems that include what we call a "horsehair braid" along the hem. This "braid" is a lightly woven strip of plastic that adds boost and definition to the hem of a dress. The correct way to hem a dress with this is to remove the braid and hem at the correct length then reapply it.
It is NOT, as done by our problem seamstress, to cut the fabric above the braid and simply move it up to where the client wants it then sew. Should the length still be too long, you do NOT simply gather the extra fabric and sew an additional line at the new location!!! Terrible decision!!!
For this wedding dress, the work done on this layer is visible underneath only 3 layers of tulle. The poor workmanship was visible while the bride wore the dress. Completely unacceptable.
