🚫🌿 March 17-23 is Animal Poison Prevention Week! Prevention starts with knowledge!

10 steps to take to help keep our homes toxin-free!
1. **Store Chemicals Safely**: Ensure household cleaners, pesticides, and other chemicals are stored securely out of reach of children and pets, preferably in locked cabinets.
2. **Proper Disposal**: Dispose of expired or unused medications, household cleaners, and other chemicals safely according to local regulations. Many communities offer hazardous waste disposal days or drop-off locations.
3. **Educate Family Members**: Teach children about household hazards and the importance of not ingesting or touching potentially harmful substances.
4. **Check Labels**: Always read labels on household products and follow usage instructions carefully. Look for non-toxic, eco-friendly options.
5. **Keep Plants Safe**: Be mindful of toxic plants that may harm pets and children. Research and remove toxic plants from your home or place them out of reach.
6. **Secure Trash Bins**: Ensure trash bins are securely closed to prevent pets and wildlife from accessing potentially harmful substances.
7. **Be Cautious with Food**: Keep human and pet food securely stored to prevent accidental pet ingestion. Be aware of foods that are toxic to animals.
8. **Install Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors**: Regularly test and maintain detectors to safeguard against carbon monoxide and smoke poisoning.
9. **Childproofing**: Install childproof locks on cabinets containing hazardous materials and cover electrical outlets to prevent accidental contact.
10. **Choose Natural Alternatives**: Opt for natural cleaning products and pest control methods whenever possible to reduce exposure to harsh chemicals.
These steps can help create a safer and healthier environment for our family and pets.
Do you have a safety tip you would like to share? If so, we'd love to hear about it!
