While in Claremont, Jeff and I strolled the campuses of the Claremont Colleges including Pomona College, Claremont Graduate University, SCRIPPS, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College. I loved viewing the mixture of modern and historic buildings. It was a lovely and peaceful walk through the campuses.

I love Delight’s handcrafted wind chime. Delight's cousin, Gabrielle, made it from driftwood that Delight and her cousin had collected through the years. Delight carved pictures on a driftwood piece. My own creativity was inspired by my childhood years engaged in artwork with my family, so this story behind Delight’s wind chime was especially special.

It was a pleasurable experience to share my inspiration for my book, The Head in the Clouds Duckling and read my book with Delight Slotemaker de Bruine, as part of the school’s Family Literacy Night event at Oakmont Elementary School. Principal Jessica Rodriguez and Intervention Teacher Nancy Bird were so warm and welcoming. We were able to read the book to two separate groups of parents and children. It was fun hearing the sweet comments from staff, guests, parents, and children who were present. Here is the link to get my book:

I invited Delight Slotemaker de Bruine to do the voices of Hank and alert Ana during my book readings in Claremont. Being able to do this with the talented Delight, Parish Care Coordinator, a former professional dancer and actress, made my author events even more enjoyable. Here we are sharing my book, The Head in the Clouds Duckling, at the Claremont Presbyterian Children’s Center. Delight, Jeff, and I loved how engaged the young children were. Sacha Lord, the Children’s Center Director, was so kind and appreciative.

I attended the (RE) GENERATIONS Asian American & Pacific Islander (AA&PI) Studies Reunion at UCLA. The thrilling news shared is the introduction of the Foundations and Futures: Asian American and Pacific Islander Digital Textbook. It is available for free online. The curriculum was created by top scholars and experts for high school, college, and lifelong learners.
The main character, Hank, of my book, The Head in the Clouds Duckling, learned the significance of celebrating our own unique qualities and embracing each other's differences. He is excited about this new curriculum that will expand the readers’ knowledge of the historical backgrounds of over twenty AA&PI ethnic communities.

It was a wonderful new experience to be filmed reading my book, "The Head in the Clouds Duckling," at the KidLit TV Studio. It was great to see and chat with fellow PR From the Heart authors, Dr. Julie McDonnell and Dr. Shafer Stedron at the studio. This event was arranged by John Masiulionis, Manager of PR From the Heart. While in New York, Jeff and I were able to squeeze in some sightseeing. It was fascinating to learn about two immigrant families from different periods of time who lived in the tenement buildings that have been converted into the Tenement Museum. In Central Park, we visited the memorial for John Lennon, Strawberry Fields. Getting soup from the Soup Kitchen was fun. I chuckle when I think of the Seinfeld episode featuring the Soup Kitchen. The soup is chunky and delicious! I took home a "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" mug souvenir. We also dined with John, Julie and her husband Jeff at Two Hands Restaurant. It was a memorable trip.

The book tells the uplifting story of Max, a boy who uses a wheelchair but dreams of soaring free like the birds outside his window. When a trip to the beach sparks an idea, Max and his sister Maya set out to build something that can touch the sky.
This story is about hope, imagination, and the power of believing in yourself. The message is that no matter your limitations, with belief in yourself and the support of those who care, every dream can soar.
Farial English will be interviewed on Facebook Live by Miriam Laundry Publishing at noon (EDT) to discuss her book and celebrate her author journey. Here’s the link if you’d like to support Farial by watching: https://www.facebook.com/share/1ZqVFR5CA2/
A portion of the proceeds from today's sales will be donated to Post-Polio Health International (PHI), a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of polio survivors through education, advocacy, and networking opportunities.
