RBHS Band

Band is the largest of the three bands and is made up of sophomores-seniors, and the Honors Wind Ensemble is the premiere concert band at RB, made up of freshman through senior students who have successfully performed a rigorous audition. Each ensemble performs at six concerts during the school year in addition to appearances at community events, parades, and ceremonies. Many students receive private instruction from one of RB’s seven studio music teachers or a private instructor in the surrounding community. Daily rehearsals emphasize student-centered learning with hopes of empowering students to be independent and creative musical thinkers with aspirations of life long activity in music. The Band has always been an integral component of student life at RB. In fact, it was a music teacher that selected our school mascot, Rouser the Bulldog, in 1935. Notable alumni of the RB Band include Vern Spevak and Michael Colgrass among many other successful performers and professionals.
