Runember Recreational Racing
Dogs are not great liars, and watching them carefully is key to training. Many times I hear of issues such as, “we’ll be running fine, then she just veers off and stops to sniff!” I guarantee she has a tell, you just haven’t noticed it. If you know what they’re saying, you can intervene before they make a poor decision
This video was a haphazard phone recording while we were coasting on a straight flat. I immediately stopped recording and pocketed my phone for a reason, because of something Bronn did. Can you see it?

What are we doing to exercise the dogs in a dangerous heat wave?
Nothing, actually
Dogs don’t need to be run ragged every single day
Dogs don’t need to be on an intense exercise program year round. There is benefit to rest and recovery, both physical and mental
There are conditions that are simply dangerous, and right now the dew point is in the 70s
They still get lots of free time outside during cooler parts of the day. They are very good at moderating their own activity accordingly. I give them puzzle toys indoors and continue basic training exercises
If your dog is utterly incapable of going a few days without lengthy frenetic exercise, consider relaxation training protocols. Look for ways to quietly engage their minds instead of raising physical intensity. Over the long term, both pieces are important, in balance with each other. And over the short term, it’s ok to do nothing for a bit
