They eventually walked that back and kept service, though dramatically increasing rates. Then again in the fall of 2020, the MBTA announced plans to "suspend" all Charlestown ferry service. This time they went through with it in January 2021, and since then there has been no water transportation available to connect Charlestown to downtown Boston.
