El Patio Ep. 7🎙💈
On this epispde, Karim sits down with Alberto, owner of Alberto's Barbershop, while getting a fresh haircut. More than a place for haircuts, Alberto's Barbershop has been part of Boston's story for decades.
After immigrating to the United States, Alberto continued the craft he first learned at just 16 years old. Since 1988, he has owned his barbershop, originally known as La Barbería Hispana, at a time when Hispanic-owned barbershops were few and far between. Today, after nearly four decades in Boston, he's witnessed his neighborhood and community grow in remarkable ways.
Watch as Alberto reflects on his journey, the evolution of Boston's Latino community, and the legacy he's built one haircut at a time. For nearly 40 years, Alberto has welcomed generations of customers through the doors of his barbershop.
Gracias Alberto por compartir tu historia, and round of applause to Karim for conducting the interview and the production team!
El Patio Episode #6 ✨
For this episode of the El Patio Podcast, we sat down with Jesse, a Jamaica Plain resident and filmmaker, to talk about community, connection, and the stories that bring people together.
Jesse shared how the local dog community has helped create relationships and a sense of belonging in the neighborhood. During the conversation, another dog owner joined in, offering their perspective on the friendships and connections formed through this shared space.
Later, Jesse and Karim connected over their experiences in filmmaking, reflecting on the dynamic nature of film as a medium that evolves through collaboration, perspective, and storytelling.
Thank you, Jesse, for sharing your story and for reminding us how community can be built through both creative work and everyday encounters. 🎥🐾
