The Joy of Seeing Old Friends…
We were so delighted to receive a visit from KSF staffer, Libby and her husband Rob as they travelled through CT.
Libby has been with KSF from the very beginning (we met while stocking shelves at our local food pantry before KSF had even taken shape 😄), and knows the herd well. It was so sweet to watch KO & Libby reconnect after such a long time apart.
We know that social cohesion plays a key role in both horse and human wellbeing. The neuroscience geek in me got to wondering how much deeper was the impact for KO and Libby since they have years of history together. Neural Synchrony, the correlation of activity between two brains, is known to be present in familiar relationships, and has positive implications on our mental health.
It reminded me of the importance of maintaining those friendships we have, and perhaps re-liven those which have drifted away a bit.
Is there someone who would be benefit from your call, text or visit today? Your nervous system will thank you (and science shows that the benefits of reconnecting outweigh the fear of awkwardness, so go for it!).

And let us not forget the dear friends and family who must live with the weight of that loss. Many of our Veteran participants bear this terrible heaviness.

Heavy rain weather like today used to mean a dull day for ponies with no exercise or training. With a fantastic indoor arena now at our disposal at the new facility, we get to still play and stay nice and dry despite the downpours and huge puddles outside.
Today Jocelyn got her first driving lesson as KO let that Lippett Morgan blood shine. A mix of training can keep things fresh and interesting for the horses and a versatile, well-rounded horse tends to be better balanced and adaptable. Albert Einstein said that “ the only source of knowledge is experience.” So the more things we try, the more we grow our depth of knowledge. Is there something you’ve been thinking of trying? I encourage you to GO FOR IT!

⭐️ KSF’s Farm Manager Extraordinaire! ⭐️
Jocelyn came highly recommended by the previous owners of our incredible new facility, previously Rendez-Vous Farm, and we can see why! Her powerful work ethic, delightfully positive attitude combined with her knowledge and experience, make her a tremendous asset as we step into our next chapter. We’ve had a couple of great work days together (with Dakota of course!) as we prepare for the herd’s arrival.
