Welcome to my Official Author page.
My current project is the Taking Prank chronicle, a four-part series of which Macom Farm is the first. Book 2, The Copper Goose—which vastly accelerates the action and greatly deepens the plot—is scheduled to be published in Fall 2022. Book 3, El Mundo, filled with thrilling and deadly confrontations, will come out in Spring 2023; and the final volume, Unearthing The Dagger will conclude the series with a finale best defined as a crescendo. Other books I have in progress include Buffer Zone, a wild and often humorous bio-tale about summering in rural Maine. For young adults, The Argopelter, becomes a lovable mystical creature who inhabits the Northwoods. Jungling in Costa Rica a personal travelogue of introducing grandchildren to one speck of the larger world. And soon—The Trip—an hilarious true-life adventure taken by three college students who drive across the country in a rickety Model-A Ford, with one-of-a-kind experiences, of living off the land and off some amazingly charitable and colorful people who are at the core of our national pride. As well, and soon to be published also, is In Conversation with Sand, an illustrated coffee table collection of unique and inspiring beach poetry.
I have been a traveler since my parents first introduced me to our National Park System and to the many natural and created wonders throughout our astounding country. My travels have been rich and memorable, providing me a kaleidoscope of worldy venues and both endearing and frightful personalitie—from which I’ve drawn literary content as only a traveler who’s actually been there can recall.
I have been fortunate to visit forty-eight of our fifty states and Puerto Rico, Canada, The Galapagos, most Caribbean Island nations and venues, Peru and Machu Picchu, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Canada, Mexico, England, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Monaco, Italy, India, Greece, Indonesia, Bali, Algiers, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and to have experienced the joys of sailing in New England throughout my life. Tennis has always been my game.
I grew up in Norwich, Connecticut, often regarded as the Rose of New England (for many fine reasons—as a thoroughly New England town, tight-knit, highly moraled and deeply historic—four signers of the Declaration of Independence lived there, as did Benedict Arnold). Norwich may be best known today for its amazing and beloved high school—the Norwich Free Academy—which I attended and where my parents taught. My writing career began there—with awards in creative writing and as editor of the school’s newspaper—thereafter spanning over two decades—first as a fledgling reporter and soon as a mildly celebrated feature writer for the Norwich Bulletin and freelance contributor to the Hartford Courant. My college days were spent at the Colorado School of Mines and University of Maine. Later, as a nuclear systems editor, I developed an innovative programmed instruction curricula for the US Nuclear Navy—which remained in use until modern computer technology improved on it. Afterwards, I became administrative and marketing development manager at the famous Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusett—where we built nuclear submarines and innovative surface ships. My early freelance credits include Yankee Magazine, Yankees Under Sail, Down East, National Fisherman, technical marketing films, and several scripts for still-classified technical films. Before retiring to write more, I had founded a successful real estate firm in New England, specializing in land acquisition and development. I currently live in Florida, near Sarasota, with my wife, Elena.
