Week 4/5 update:
Swelling still there but not as prevalent in my hips. Still get swollen hands occasionally in the morning. I have a belly button spacer, so that my belly button doesn’t close. I wish the drain didn’t come out so early. But on the bright side I’m looking at getting a faja and an abdominal board to help with more compression. Restrictions still haven’t been lifted yet for lifting over 5lbs. I try not to…but my daughter is 30 pounds and sometimes bags just need to be carried. So there’s not much I can do about that. Otherwise the stitches are healing well and I am happy with where I am so far.

April 25,2025:
Guess what?? I went for brachioplasty & penniculectomy surgery! Two birds one stone this time around. I had lost enough weight that my skin was becoming an issue. I did try to wait for at least two years to see what my body could do on its own. Many of the people around me said they could notice I lost a lot of weight, but couldn’t use that it was -135 pounds! Over time, some of the weight was gained back and I evenly balanced out at 160 (where I wanted to stop at before, but lost weight until I was 133 with sweatpants on).
Upon waking up, yes you do feel the difference mostly on the arms. The lower abdomen scar feels like a c section but doesn’t hurt. However, the way the arms feel, is way lighter! My shoulders even stopped clicking and my right shoulder labrum is feeling some relief after being so tense from trying to support the extra weight.
Compression is required for the next three weeks. The next day before leaving the hospital, I was able to take both my arm drains out! And about 3 days later I was able to get one of two abdomen drains removed. My stomach felt a little rigid, so I did have to remind myself, it’s okay to sit up with full posture and it will actually help the healing! Just like vsg surgery I am still out walking and just enjoying life, to help promote the healing. The pain was prettt normal and basically gone after about 48 hours and some Tylenol. I’ll post some progress photos and scar healing photos over the next few weeks/months.
Cheers to progress 🥂
