We do not even know how to write this update. šŸ’”

Naida was admitted and fully re-evaluated at the hospital. New bloodwork came back far worse than anything we expected. We were told her kidneys are failing and her liver is no longer functioning properly. The doctors told us the most humane thing to do would be to let her go.
We were devastated.
What makes this even harder to understand is that just four days ago, her bloodwork, while already concerning, looked very different. We knew Naida was sick. We knew she was fragile. But none of us expected to be discussing end-of-life decisions only a few days later.

Just yesterday we handed over a dog who was looking around, interested in her surroundings, watching people, still very much present.
Our first thoughts were not about treatment. They were about how to give her a peaceful goodbye. But we were not ready to leave Naida alone with strangers for her final moments. Not after everything she had survived.

So we consulted with three more doctors. Two agreed there was little to no hope. But one doctor said he was not ready to tell us that.
And we held onto those words.
We may be wrong. But we were not ready to stop fighting for her today.
So we ordered the medications. We adjusted the plan.
The doctors see the numbers. We see them too.
But we also see Naida.
When we picked her up from the clinic, she recognized the car and stopped worrying. She laid down and relaxed.
For today, she is home.

Whatever tomorrow brings, thank you for giving Naida comfort, dignity, and a chance to be loved.

For those asking how Naida is doing tonight, we uploaded videos of her at home after the clinic here:

Naida had a long day of diagnostics.
Her bloodwork shows severe inflammation and damage throughout her body. The liver values are extremely high and the muscle damage markers are dangerously elevated. Doctors also suspect Cushing’s syndrome, a hormonal disease common in older dogs that slowly weakens the body over time and affects muscles, skin, healing, and the immune system.
The ultrasound showed chronic changes in several organs, including her liver and adrenal glands. Doctors also found concerning changes in her mammary glands that may require surgery once she is stable enough.
Today’s X-rays showed a hip dislocation/subluxation along with severe chronic changes in her spine and joints. The doctor now wants Naida to have an MRI because they are worried there may also be neurological or spinal involvement.

She also vomited plastic bags and grass after rescue.
The more we learn about Naida, the clearer it becomes that these are not the medical results of a dog who simply ā€œcollapsed 5 days ago.ā€ Her body looks like it has been fighting a long internal battle for a very long time, long before she ended up lying helpless near that train station.
But thankfully, she does not have to do it alone anymore.
And this time, the world around her is not ignoring her. It is filled with people fighting for her..
And despite everything, Naida is alert and that gives us hope.. šŸ™
But we are still very worried about her. Naida remains in extremely fragile condition and needs round the clock monitoring.
Thank you for continuing to fight for this old girl with us.

So we got Gigi out on Monday, and she’ll be taken great care of from now on. She still needs to be spayed, vaccinated, brushed, and most importantly, loved.

I wanted to thank everyone who helped — starting with my dad for taking her in. He’s the reason I made a deadline given by former owner.
A huge thank you to Amy Shroff for connecting me with amazing people who will help find Gigi the best home possible.
I does take a village..

We’ll share updates.

šŸ’› Cherri’s Happy News šŸ’›

We are overjoyed to share that this sweet girl has officially started her next chapter.

She was adopted by a wonderful couple with a deep love for rescue dog. They didn’t hesitate when they met Cherri today, and opened their hearts to her immediately. We already received the sweetest update—she's safe, resting on a couch, and starting to relax into her new life.
We couldn’t ask for more for her.

To everyone who shared, supported, or simply cared—thank you!
Live happily, sweet Cherri… and stay in touch šŸ”šŸ¾ā¤ļø
