Welolo
01/08/2023
Ok, so, we want you to picture something…
You send your friend a Welolo, here’s what you’ve just done:
You supported a locally owned business by purchasing from them (heck yeah!).
You flexed your generosity muscle (which like all exercise, always feels good).
You introduced your friend to a new local business, could be their new favorite spot.
You spread the word about a local business AND gave them a new customer, who is potentially a returning customer (this both supports and helps a business grow)…
If you see what we’re talking about here, we’re amplifying value, your $20 gift is supporting a local business, giving a gift to your friend while marketing that local business at the same time.
It’s a win/win/win proposition. Everyone wins in this deal.
Ask anyone in the restaurant industry and you’ll hear that this is a tough time of year.
Post holidays (where we all spent more than we had planned), post new years (we’re all only eating kale), and add to that the state of the economy and yes, it’s a hard time of year for the locally owned restaurants in the treasure valley.
Our offer is to support a locally owned business from right where you are, all you gotta do is wiggle your fingers around a bit, click the link in our bio and click “Pay it forward at Alchemist Coffee”. We’re still in our first month and currently only launched with , but we’ve already got our next phase of partners lined up and we’ll be launching with them soon 🚀, we can’t wait to add more awesome local businesses.
The link is also in our stories. Happy Saturday Boise, hope you gotta feel a little of that sweet January sunshine today.

Happy New Year Boise!
We want you to know that the heart behind Welolo is community, specifically you, the true community and people of Boise.
We’re a platform that promotes and makes generosity easy, but the reason we do this is to support the community of Boise.
The small local businesses, the mom and pops shops, locally owned and operated, serving this community with their hands and hearts.
The servants of our community, those in: military, education, law enforcement, fire department or health care.
And those who can’t afford a cup of coffee, and are going through a difficult time in life.
We are all in this together. We are all the community of Boise together. We’re here to help us all rise, together.
If you feel drawn to what we’re doing, there’s four things you can do to support us (and only one of them costs money): 1. Gift a Welolo to a friend or group. 2. Tag a friend below who would align with our vision 3. Join our newsletter at the link in our bio 4. Simply share this post.
Much love Boise, we appreciate you all 💛.

As we head into the holiday, we’re filled with such deep gratitude, for our community in Boise, for our partner businesses, and all of the people that have gone to great lengths to bring Welolo into a reality.
Coming up with an idea is one thing, but making it a reality that functions in the real world is another and we’ve had so much help and community support along the way to get Welolo launched in Boise, and it warms our hearts to see people sending and redeeming Welolo’s everyday.
We believe this generosity is contagious, and we exist to promote generosity and to make it easier for each of us to offer it to others.
Tremendous thank you to , Kris and Tyler and their team have offered us so much time and talent and the space to launch our imperfect idea and perfect it through their business, we cannot tell you how much they’ve given us out of their own generosity.
Thank you to our future partners who we’ll be launching with very soon.
Thank you to our team of developers, who have worked so hard behind the scenes to make our platform work, it’s not a simple thing to create a platform where people can give to each other.
Thank you to our community of Boise, for your generosity and support of Welolo, we don’t believe there’s a city that’s more kind or generous.
Happy Holidays Boise, we hope you’re spending it with the people you love most.

With Welolo you can pay it forward to specific people (i.e. your homie, your mom, your cousin), or you can pay it forward to groups of people (Military, Education, Fire Department, Healthcare Workers and Law Enforcement).
If you pay it forward to one of these groups, what it means is that when, for example, a veteran walks into one of our partner businesses (currently we’re launched with our first partner , more partners soon to very come), your gift goes into a community pot available to pay for their cup of coffee.
There’s already Welolo money available for each of these groups, and the way you can help us out is to either 1.) share this post 2.) Tag someone in military, education, fire department, healthcare or law enforcement. Don’t think hard about it, we can see you squinting and thinking too hard, just tag the first person that comes to mind and help us spread the word about Welolo.
To redeem a Welolo, anyone in these groups can walk into Alchemist Coffee Roasting Co and tell them that they’re a health-care worker (or the appropriate group, you know what we mean, silly) and their coffee will be paid for, as simple as that. Warm feelings ensue on all sides.
Here’s Dee Morgan, he currently works as a human resource partner at the City of Boise, he is a 20+ year recent retiree of the United States Air Force, he lives in Nampa with his family. He also has a business , where he makes incredible cheesecake. He generously volunteered to be a part of a photoshsoot for us as one of the members of our military group.
Generosity is our superpower and we’re all in this together 👊.

It’s time for us show you how Welolo works. We exist to make generosity easy (and to increase the amount of generosity going around), so here’s what you’ll do to send a Welolo (scroll through the series of images, to see how you, the actual user, will experience it).
Go to welolo.app
Choose a partner business (currently we’re only launched with , but we’ll be launching with our other partners soon!)
Choose how much you want to give and who you want to give it to (specific individual or group)
Push some buttons (beep, boop, bleep (sounds of pushing buttons)).
Feel that good feeling. (Yes that’s the feeling of generosity, get used to it 🙌).
If you Welolo an individual they’ll receive a text from you with their Welolo, or if you Welolo one of our groups (military (Active Duty and Veteranss), education (teachers, lunchroom workers, environmental services, janitors, bus drivers, crossing guards, ANYONE and EVERYONE in education), fire department, health care workers or law Enforcement), then your Welolo will be added to the group pot for anyone from that group to redeem.
To redeem a Welolo, scan the QR code you get via text, or if you’re one of the members of our groups, just tell your cashier and your coffee will be covered 👍.
We’re still in our first weeks of launch and we want all the feedback we can get! So if you go through this process and run into any problems on the giving or receiving end, please DM us and let us know your experience. We purposefully chose a slow launch to work out all of the quirks before we move out on a larger scale.
Much love Boise, we’ll see you out there.
