Del Rio Apiary

On Friday we had our first swarm of the year. Luckily Sammy and I were able to recapture them and put them into an empty hive. We located and secured the queen in a queen clip. Today Sammy went into the bees by himself for the first time to release her with her colony in their new home. He was a bit nervous but did an excellent job!

It’s great day to be at the farmers’ market… AND, it’s Sammy’s birthday!

The family will be there with the kiddos running the stand! We’ll be on the north side of Jefferson Street, just east of Center Street. So far the forecast looks perfect!

Tomorrow we’ll be graciously hosted by Illinois State Representative Sharon Chung at the “Oh Honey It’s First Friday”, outside her office at 216 N Center Street in downtown Bloomington! We’ll have 2 of 3 of the kids that run Del Rio Apiary (Giuliana has gymnastics practice!).
