Thank you SERCAL for hosting an awesome conference last month. Lots of great talks and conversations. Cal-IPC Board members Michelle Daneri and Justin Valliere were in attendance tabling for Cal-IPC. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the next one!

We’re sad to share that Jake Sigg, friend, conservation icon, and founding member of Cal-IPC passed away yesterday morning at 99 years old after a long and inspiring life. Jake was a passionate advocate for native plants, biodiversity, and ecological restoration. After moving to San Francisco in 1950, he worked as a city gardener for more than 30 years. Later he became a full-time advocate for restoring local native plant habitat and preserving biodiversity.

Let us celebrate him and all that he has done for stewardship in California!

Hiking is a great way to explore nature, but did you know invasive species can hitchhike on your boots, clothing, and gear? Seeds, mud, and plant fragments can travel from trail to trail without us even noticing. Before and after your next hike, take a few moments to brush off your boots, clean your gear, and remove any mud or debris. These simple actions help protect forests, grasslands, wetlands, and trails from the spread of invasive species. For more info, visit https://playcleango.org/.

Cal-IPC's Climate Match Tool has been updated! Compare climates across the globe to see whether a plant grows in conditions similar to your region. The tool helps predict whether a plant is likely to establish and become invasive in new areas. Now with updated precipitation, plant hardiness, and ecozone data as well as the ability to select any region across North America.
