Office of Enrollment Management has grown silent on the 2020 program's progress, ignoring student voices.

“STRIPES was so important in shaping my experience at LSU. As an out-of-state student, I was worried about not knowing the LSU traditions and having the connections on campus. STRIPES showed me the magic underneath these stately oaks and broad magnolias. It brought me the connections that I will cherish for a lifetime.
When I left my home in Texas in early August a year and a half ago for STRIPES, I felt like an outsider at LSU. After just a few days at STRIPES, I felt like I belonged, and I knew that I made the right decision to be a Tiger.
It’s past time that LSU’s administration listens to the powerful voices of student leaders on campus. Student leaders like the ones that staffed STRIPES have played the most crucial roles in my success and retention at LSU, and I know that I am not alone in this trend. The tools that STRIPES empowers students with make a huge mark in the magnificence that is a trademark at LSU.” - Kaylee Valencia

“I’m an out of state student from Alabama. A state which doesn’t send a lot of kids to LSU. I knew absolutely nobody else going to LSU or anyone that was at LSU. In fact, I had only ever been to campus twice before STRIPES.
Though I tried not to show it, I was terrified that I wouldn’t make friends. STRIPES made it clear that I had nothing to be scared of. Right off the bat, It gave me my first friends at LSU. It gave me someone go walk to Cane’s with at midnight, someone that hugs me every time he sees me, someone to try boba for the first time with, and the best 8 person secret all-nighter ever.
In addition to the friendships, STRIPES taught me all the tricks to navigating campus and all the traditions LSU holds. It made me fall in love with a school that wasn’t my first choice.
At the end of the day, STRIPES is a program that does nothing but benefit its newest, most scared, most unfamiliar students. I can say without a doubt that I would not be the student I am now without this program!” - Lizzie Shaw

“STRIPES helped me learn that it’s okay to be yourself. Be as outgoing as you want to be, and if you’re not like that, then that’s fine too. I made many friendships that I never thought I would have. STRIPES was an amazing experience, and I would definitely do it all over again in a heartbeat!” - Gabs

“STRIPES gave me a footing on campus. I learned where my classes were and how to navigate the campus in a more personal environment. I also made friends (especially through the “campfire” tradition) who made my first few weeks on campus bearable while trying to acclimate to a new environment. I know I always, always have a solid group of people I can call on if I need help.” - Erin Leblanc
