Forgot to share our Springtime Plantain harvest. My sweet plant loving child decided we needed to harvest that day, no preparation, just a let’s go mom today is the day. So I stopped everything, grabbed a basket and met her out there. Louisiana has a variety of Plantago, we harvested Plantago virginica on this day. After harvesting, we rinsed, dried and jarred it up. Later I solar infused them in organic olive oil. And guess what…this oil was used in the skin repair salve you have in your medicine drawer!

What’s happening these days? Well, pictured here is my first Elecampane root harvest! I Waited 2 years but probably should’ve waited until year 3 to yield a bigger harvest. This is my first time growing and harvesting this herb. I’m always happy with the reward of God’s medicine. It was worth the wait and end result. Always a good time in Jade’s secret garden. Echinacea, Wild yam and Valerian root were also harvested.
