Clean Out Property Services -COPS

Funny how the universe, or God, plays out into your life and completely changes your concept or plans of how you thought things would go. When I retired from the PD, my wife thought a good part time gig would be cleaning out left over items at a home from a sale (She’s a Realtor) Or before the sale to help sellers dispose of items. That’s how Clean Our Property Services (COPs) came to be. HOWEVER, we’ve done little with minor left over debris but had a lot of major estate type clean outs. This has given us the humble experience of witnessing the late homeowners life through their pictures, hobbies, books, etc. It seems almost like a sacred mission and we are respectful of the deceased life long memories as well as the living family in the way we handle the household items. We sort anything reusedable and have acquired a list from missionaries, nurseries, Second Chance Homes, (and more): that could use these things we donate. We have fair minded antique dealers and other places to make a few dollars either for the family or to credit off their bill; We put real trash in the dumpsters. We find each past homeowner has a legend.. something they were remarkable at. Sometimes We have to expand our reach to place unique objects to like minded hobbyist, craftsman etc. To date nothing has been extraordinary valuable, but the gratitude and appreciation of the recipients of these goods make me think the late owner would be pleased. Yes, it takes more time and work but I feel honored to be part of handling the final chapter of the material world for these late deceased legends. And it usually takes an emotional burden off the family. While I am likely making less then minimum wage it’s been a rewarding gig, though not exactly what I planned 🤔😊
