The "One Piece Project" is a collaborative project between Baltimore City Students and the public. Created by the students of REACH Partnership School, it is an effort to bridge the gap between communities, introduce people from different walks of life, and to brighten random peoples' days through finding art. With the idea that we are all "one piece" of a greater community we do not always recog
nize, the project aims to have student created 'pieces' of art placed throughout the city of Baltimore (specifically neighborhoods/communities the students do not frequent or have direct access to). Taken by whomever may find them, shared via the web, and bridging the artist and viewer, the goal of the artworks is creating a connection between two pieces of a greater whole. The pieces, quality cedar planks stained with acrylic and signed have personally crafted quotes, jokes, and inspirational ideas on the back. They are free to any and all individuals who come across them. The hope is that the 'finder' will be inspired, entertained, charmed, or at the very least amused enough to keep the piece and seek out the creator. This site was created to act as a medium for those connections and to start a dialogue. We encourage you to actively look around the city of Baltimore for these pieces, then post photos to this page or social media (with the hashtag: #onepieceproject and @pataphysic), thereby engaging in a dialogue with the youth of this vibrant city. Certain (randomly selected) pieces are specially marked, and if the 'finder' contacts us they will receive another gift (artwork). You can reach us here (obviously) and on twitter and instagram at @pataphysic, or at nonseqart.com/onepiece We look forward to meeting you, and happy hunting!
