Last week reminded me that books truly matter. 📚✨

I spent the day visiting my cousin’s school and reading My Nana, My World to kindergarten students during their Field Day celebration, and my heart is SO full.

Watching little faces light up during story time…
Hearing them answer questions…
Seeing them connect to the story…
That’s the part people don’t always see behind becoming an author.

This wasn’t just about reading a book. It was about representation, imagination, family, love, and showing children that their stories matter too.

As I sat in those classrooms wearing my Ms. Maryland sash and holding a book inspired by my own Nana, I realized this is exactly the kind of impact I prayed for. 💜

Thank you to the amazing teachers, staff, and students for welcoming me with so much love today. The energy in every classroom was unforgettable.

And yes… the kids definitely stole the show. 🥹😂
