Moving wasn’t an option yet so the big chop had to happen. Air layering is a method of propagating stems still attached to the mother plant. A cutting of this size could take a longer time to root or you may find you’ll lose leaves while the cutting is trying to grow new roots. You could chose to score the node before adding the moss (it may take faster to rooting) but I decided to leave as is and it was a success! Taking this cutting, I will be adding it back to itself once I repot so the monstera can live its best bushy life with the rest of its family.
