What To Do When Nobody Believes In Your Dream

Someone close to you has probably already said something that made you shrink.

Maybe it was:
"That won't work."
"You don't have time for that."
"Those things are scams."
"Why do you need more money — aren't we doing okay?"

And the worst part isn't even what they said.

The worst part is the little voice inside you that nodded along.

Here's something I've learned the hard way:
The people who love you most are sometimes the least qualified to judge your potential.

They love you.

But they also see your limitations more clearly than your possibilities.

They mean well.

But "I don't want you to fail" can sound a lot like "don't try."

The cure isn't to fight them.

It's to outlast the doubt.
Build quietly.
Build consistently.

Let the results do the arguing.

Because nothing shuts down "that won't work" faster than showing someone a screenshot of real income you earned from your couch.

I don't want to be a part of circles where I have to strive to fit in.

I don't want to squeeze myself into small spaces that aren't meant for me.

I don't want to "tone down" my personality so I'll be liked.

I don't want to wear the right things or own the right things to feel like I belong.

I've done it all before and it left me empty and lonely.

I've realized that fitting in was never the same as belonging, and that being in "that circle" was never worth sacrificing who I am.

Now I find spaces that have room for me to be me, and want you to know that when you sit by me, there's room for you to be you too.
