Juneteenth is more than a date. It’s a turning point in American history.

On June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally told they were free. That day marked the true beginning of freedom for millions—and the end of one of the darkest eras in this nation’s history.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom wasn’t given—it was fought for. It honors the resilience, strength, and spirit of those who endured the unimaginable and still rose.

This day is about reflection. It’s about truth. And it’s about progress.

We can’t erase the past, but we can learn from it. And we must keep pushing forward—toward justice, equity, and true unity.
