So my wife and I have owned and operated a few short term rentals (STR's) over the years. I'm assuming we've been fortunate because we've stayed booked out on those properties as much as we could handle using only the AirBNB platform. Recently that changed, occupancy has moved in the wrong direction, so I placed our current Fredericksburg property on VRBO. I do believe, after about 2 months, we are getting more hits and our bookings on that platform are performing well. The one thing I did NOT anticipate is that the VRBO clients looking at our property are more interested in longer than 2 or 3 night stays. That is a good thing and a good thing to know.
I tend to stick with what I know and in this case it worked to my advantage to just try something new.
