Singing With Sydney

5 years ago today I played my first show with Goons. At the time I was going through some major transitions—I felt pretty unsure of what I was doing constantly, but put one foot in front of the other. Singing was changing too, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do creatively. And then there was an invitation to be a part of this band.

Saying yes to Goons was one of the best decisions I ever made. It brought me out of myself, challenged my assumptions about what I could or couldn’t do, and reminded me of how good sharing music can be. And somehow I managed to swing getting hitched to along the way 💖

If you are wondering whether or not to take a risk on a new environment to share your voice in, maybe this is your sign to take the leap. Go to that open mic. Go for that audition. Take that voice lesson. Join that choir. Show up for that songwriters circle. You never know how many wonderful moments and relationships are waiting for you on the other side.

I will never forget this November ❤️ Getting married, celebrating with my singing students, going on honeymoon, coming home to spend Thanksgiving with family. My heart is full to a level I can’t quite describe. Maybe my face in the first photo covers it?
