Japan has an innovative solution for earthquake safety. Air Danshin's "levitating" homes use compressed air to elevate houses during tremors. Normally resting on a deflated airbag, these homes lift when seismic activity is detected, preventing damage. During a 7.3 earthquake in 2021, these homes remained safe. Japan's seismometers also monitor ground and volcanic activity for swift responses.
