✨ Graduate Spotlight | Phoebe Cosgrove, Bachelor of Social Work ✨

As we celebrate graduating students participating in Disability Graduation on May 7, we’re proud to highlight Phoebe Cosgrove.

As a freshman, Phoebe embraced UT’s ‘What starts here changes the world’ spirit, grounding it in disability culture and community. Through her studies in social work and critical disability studies, she spent four years deepening her understanding of disability as identity, culture and a place for collective advocacy.

Courses with Emily Shryock, director of the Disability Cultural Center and adjunct assistant professor of social work, encouraged Phoebe to explore disability through history, policy and lived experience. Beyond the classroom, conversations with scholars, activists and fellow Longhorns deepened that perspective. Through the Disability Cultural Center, she found a vibrant community where disability is celebrated and valued.

Her Disability and Access coordinator was part of that support system, taking time to know her as a person and helping her build confidence in advocating for her access needs.

After graduation, Phoebe will stay at UT to pursue her Master of Social Work. Congratulations, Phoebe, and happy Disability Graduation! 🧡
