We fine-tuned Google’s Gemma 4 to better understand multilingual and underrepresented languages, including several underrepresented languages often overlooked in AI systems.

Using over 15 million multilingual training examples, Hypa-Gemma4-E2B was trained for:
* Translation
* Dictionary understanding
* Language detection
* Structured multilingual instruction following

One major lesson from the research:
Bigger training doesn’t always mean better performance. After a certain point, the model began overfitting, teaching us the importance of smarter training, not just longer training.

This is another step toward AI that works for everyone, not just the world’s most represented languages.
