She picked up right where she left off with my late sister, Martina. She was deeply close to Martina when she was alive, and gave her a befitting send-off that no parent in our culture could have provided. Taking care of family is one of her greatest gifts. I regret the distance, living on opposite sides of the globe, and the toll it took. I probably would have made better choices in life with her closer presence. But it’s never too late, and I’m thankful to have in my life now.
