Smyrna’s West Village could be getting a major new addition.

The last remaining vacant corner of the West Village development at Atlanta Road and West Village Way may soon have a new tenant, and it’s a concept that has built a loyal following in the Athens area.

Cafe Racer is an Athens-based restaurant concept known for its coffee, food, full bar, and energetic neighborhood hangout atmosphere. A recent rezoning request would allow a portion of the property to be incorporated into the larger site plan for the project.

Residents and community leaders have been discussing the future of this corner for years, and now the conversation appears to be shifting toward how a project like this can fit into the neighborhood while addressing concerns about traffic, pedestrian safety, and compatibility with the surrounding community.

If approved, Cafe Racer could become one of the most active gathering spots in West Village and another example of how the Atlanta Road corridor continues to evolve.
