πͺ Masela Nkolo comes from a place that most people reading this story would struggle to identify on a map. His experiences growing up were vastly different from anything the majority of Americans could comprehend. But the artistic movement he helped create is commanding attention in the way it celebrates his heritage and sparks change.
We sat down with to discuss his journey to the Atlanta arts scene from a village in the Congo, and how his work brings awareness to the urgent issues shaping his culture.

Nicole Kang Ahn paints with flashes of color. A ribbon of bold pinks. Bright yellows. Luminous blues. A figure emerging from layered textures. Standing in her studio on Peachtree Street and gazing at the works displayed on the walls, thereβs a sense of nostalgia and tender memories in the subjects she paints that invite viewers in. And underneath her brushstrokes, thereβs a profound story about a working artist translating grief, resilience, and hope into visual form.
sat down with Nicole to discuss her bond with Atlanta as a Korean-American, her journey back to making art after a series of hardships, how she found a creative outlet to give voice to those who have none, and how the serendipitous encounters of city life show up in her Midtown studio

Central to her work as a visual artist, Aysha Pennerman embraces the power of community involvement to surface the unique stories and themes that make a neighborhood special. Sheβs putting this into practice and honing her craft at a studio on the All Saints Episcopal Church campus in Midtown Atlanta, where she is participating in Midtown Allianceβs artist residency program.
We sat down with Aysha to talk about her background in creative placemaking, the story of how she found her calling, her recent experimentation with mixed media, and the very special mural project sheβs creating next spring in Midtown.

For , a designer and mixed media artist, the subtle interplay between light and texture has had a profound influence on the practice he is building. We recently visited his studio on the south end of the district to discuss his artistic process and what heβs working on as a Midtown Alliance artist-in-residence. π Read the story at the link in bio.
