On Yom HaShoah, we remember the lives lost in the Holocaust and honor the survivors who have borne witness with extraordinary courage. As their numbers dwindle, our responsibility to remember is as important and timely as ever. And remembering also means applying the lessons of moral courage and action to our current realities. May we choose compassion and protect our shared humanity, today and always.

Grateful for a meaningful few days in Boston with incredible supporters who power CARE’s work! A special highlight was celebrating my friend Virginia McGee Richards at the Harvard Book Store for the launch of her new book, “The Inner Passage: An Untold Story of Black Resistance Along a Southern Waterway” — a powerful blend of stunning photography, poignant essays, and reflection. An evening of some of my favorite things – independent bookstores, history, community, friends – and offered a much-needed antidote in these challenging times.

As Easter approaches, I am leaning into its message of hope. Our CARE Philippines Country Director Reiza Dejito sent out a wonderfully inspiring Easter message to CARE colleagues that I found deeply resonant, "We plant hope in places we may never return to. We leave behind safe spaces, restored dignity, and small but life-changing moments of relief, often without ever seeing who finds them, or how much it meant." To all who celebrate, may Easter remind us that caring for one another is how hope takes hold.
