At 11 years old, Yeimy traveled from Guatemala to Philadelphia for life-changing care for congenital scoliosis.

Now at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia, she’s begun the first step of her treatment with Dr. Joshua Pahys—a halo that will gradually help straighten her spine over the next several weeks, preparing her for surgery ahead.

It’s not an easy road but Yeimy is strong, and she’s surrounded by people who believe in her every step of the way. Her family expressed:
