5. Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. The restoration of Akagera’ s habitat over the past few decades is nothing short of remarkable. From eliminating poaching, to reintroducing species such as lions and white rhino, wildlife numbers have grown exponentially. Golden Monkeys are one of Africa’s rarest primates, found only in the bamboo forests of the Virunga volcanic mountains of Rwanda. The Golden Monkey gets its name from the golden-orange fur on its lower back. Just like the gorillas, the Golden Monkeys like to eat bamboo shoots which tends to get them a little drunk and naughty!
