For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

In this season of Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the One who through His life and redemptive work on the Cross would save the world from our sins. The prophet Isaiah penned a beautiful description of our Savior.

Jesus not only rules over the governments of the world, but in believers He governs our hearts. We love because He first loved us. He is our King and He has all power in heaven and on earth. He upholds all things by the power of His word (Hebrews 1:3).

His name is Wonderful. ‘Oh, how I love the name of Jesus.’ You can call on Him anytime. He’s always near and will never leave us. His counsel is true and will never lead us wrong. Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word was God. All things were created by Him, through Him, and for Him. He is the almighty God.

He is the Everlasting Father. He has no beginning and no end. He is a self-sufficient, all sufficient God. Praise the Lord , the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people shouted "Amen!" and praised the Lord (1 Chronicles 16:36)

And He is the Prince of Peace. Our salvation through faith in Christ gives us peace with God the Father (Romans 5:1). Before conversion, we were enemies to God (Romans 5:10). In our trials and tribulations, Jesus is our peace. His power can calm our anxieties and strengthen us to overcome the pressures of the world.

The greatest gift the world has received was the birth of Jesus! Praise His glorious Name!

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. II Timothy 2:3
Brothers and sisters in the household of faith, we will have hardships and trials in this life. For Christ's sake, we will face persecution and rejection as our Savior did. Our faith is being tested and tried every day in all kinds of situations and places (I Peter 1:7).

The Bible does not teach us that our lives will be easy nor will it be smooth. But we are in battle with an adversary, the devil, who seeks to devour the sheep by stealing our joy, killing our spirit, and destroying our mission. If one's faith in Christ is not being tested, they should examine themselves (II Corinthians 13:5).

The Church of God has always suffered attacks from those who oppose God and His righteousness. Jesus stated... "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been treated violently, and violent men take it by force." When the disciples were thrown into jail for preaching Jesus, they rejoiced that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name (Acts 5:41).

We, the followers of Christ, are not 'feel good' fans cheering about how good our lives are. Our joy is knowing that we were chosen to represent Christ on earth, to serve our King, and help build His kingdom. Count it all joy when your test comes, God considers you worthy. James 1:2-4
