There’s a difference between being called…
and carrying what was never yours to hold.
As mental health professionals, especially those of us who lead with heart and faith, it can be easy to step beyond support and into overfunctioning.
We start:
• Holding emotional weight that belongs to others
• Feeling responsible for outcomes we don’t control
• Extending beyond our capacity in the name of “helping”
But here’s the truth…
You can be compassionate without being responsible for everything.
You can be called without being consumed.
Faith-centered self-care is not just about rest —
it’s about discernment.
It’s asking:
“Is this mine to carry… or am I trying to be the answer instead of trusting God with the outcome?”
Today, give yourself permission to release what was never your assignment.

So many people in faith communities have been taught how to keep going… even when emotionally exhausted.
But God never intended for us to carry everything alone.
Rest is not laziness.
Boundaries are not selfish.
And seeking support is not a sign of weak faith.
Sometimes healing looks like:
✨ prayer
✨ reflection
✨ counseling
✨ coaching
✨ honest conversations
✨ slowing down long enough to listen to what your mind, body, and spirit need
You deserve care too.
