KRJC will be closed on May 1, International Workers' Day, in solidarity with all those striking across the country. Strike organizers are calling for everyone to strike from school, work, and shopping to protest the government's attacks on immigrants and to demonstrate our collective economic power.
Immigrants are some of the most vulnerable workers in this country, now made much more vulnerable by the threat of escalated ICE attacks. On May 1, we will join all who are using their money and labor power to say that we stand with immigrants and want ICE OUT.
In this post, we share a short history of May Day, a homegrown labor holiday celebrating the movement that fought for the labor protections we have today. May the movement continue.
We encourage everyone to research actions happening in their communities and participate in the strike, if you're able.
