Looking at these pictures made me smile.

At 28, I was pregnant during my last year of residency, studying for my Internal Medicine boards while this little boy was kicking away, completely unaware of everything life was about to become.

I took my boards. Two weeks later, he was born.
Two weeks after that, we moved into our first home.

Looking back now, I honestly don’t know how we did it.

At the time, I thought motherhood was about surviving the season I was in.
The feedings. The diapers. The sleepless nights.

Trying to figure out how to be a good doctor and a good mom at the same time.

What I didn’t realize was that motherhood keeps changing.

Every stage asks you to become a different kind of mom.
The mom of a newborn.
The mom of a little boy.
And now… the mom of a teenager.

These days, I’m learning that parenting isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening more. Trusting more. Praying more.
And walking beside him as he becomes the man God created him to be.

One day, he’ll build a life of his own.

My prayer is that he’s known for his character, his kindness, his integrity, and the way he treats people.

Because at the end of the day, that’s the kind of man I hope I’ve helped raise.
