His presence brought big smiles to everyone who met him and he was a natural at providing emotional support to those in need. With his passing, his parents with help from the Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta, established The Schultz Fund to create a nurturing legacy for people and Pyrs for many years to come. The Schultz Foundation raises funds through GPRA donations to be used specifically to pro
vide scholarships to train rescued Pyrs to be professional therapy dogs to assist those with special needs. It should be no surprise that Great Pyrenees make ideal therapy dogs and the foundation's namesake was no exception. Pyrs are fun and easy to pet because of their size and also live-up to their nickname, "Gentle Giants,” as the breed is both gentle and lovable. The funds will be utilized to provide grants to individuals to cover the costs to have their Great Pyrenees trained to be a therapy dog - locally in Atlanta with CPT Training or where convenient for the Pyr's family. Here is a story about a GPRA adoptee who was trained at CPT: http://www.cpt-training.com/clarice-the-great-pyrenees-therapy-dog
