Lakeside Middle
Approximately 730 students from Otwell, Riverwatch and South Forsyth middle schools joined to form this new school. Because of its close proximity to Lake Lanier, the school was named Lakeside. Lake Lanier is a reservoir that is named for poet Sidney Lanier. It was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950s and is used for hydroelectricity, flood control, drinking water and recreational purposes.

We are so proud of our World Language students who went above and beyond this year! Many of our students took the National Spanish Exam, which measures vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills. Congratulations to our 13 students earning the Gold Level Honor, 5 students earning the Silver Level Honor, 6 students earning the Bronze Level Honor, and 3 students earning Honorable Mention. Our students were also successful at the annual Forsyth County World Language Expo. At the Expo, students represented French, German, and Spanish, and earned awards in the Team Trivia Competition, Creative Writing Competition, Language Production Competition, Poetry Recitation Competition, and Cultural Performance. Students - you have all worked so hard to push yourselves to increase your World Language skills, and we know your multilingualism will continue to enrich your life. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
