Surya Bonaly is the only female ice skating athlete to achieve a backflip on the ice in competition and additionally land on one leg which judges said couldn’t be achieved (one-leg) so they banned backflips in ice skating stating it was “unnecessarily dangerous.” — She still did her signature move numerous times in competitions since the judges deemed her too athletic and looked down on her. ⛸️
