Running toward the fear.
As I get older, fear shows up differently. It’s not just about me anymore—there’s responsibility, family, people who depend on me. That weight can make you hesitate, second-guess, play it safe.
But I’ve noticed something… that same fear has started to creep into my physical practice too.
I’ve always loved bodyweight movement, calisthenics, lighter weight with higher reps. It’s my comfort zone. So I made a decision that honestly scares me—I signed up for an event in June that’s heavier than anything I’ve ever attempted.
Truth is, the most likely outcome is failure.
And I’m doing it anyway.
Because that fear—It demands respect. It forces me to train harder, to stay present, to honor the work. Recently, I found myself asking at in Austin, TX, “Do you think I could clean a 44kg (97lb) kettlebell with one hand?” I’d never done it before. Doubt was loud, on my part.
But he calmly said: Absolutely, you can. For sure. You got it. You are stronger than you think you are.
Sometimes that’s all it takes. A seed planted. A shift in belief.
So now I’m leaning in.
Toward the discomfort. Toward the unknown. Toward the possibility that growth lives exactly where we’re afraid to go.
I’m not where I want to be yet—but I’m far from where I started.
If you want to follow the process—the struggle, the learning, the failures, and the getting back up—I’ll be sharing more of my journey. It won’t always be pretty.
But it will be real.
And one thing I know for sure…
This is going to make one hell of a story.
Leading by example starts with us. 💛
We ask our kids to stay consistent, to finish what they start, and to give their very best… but they’re always watching what we do more than what we say.
No matter how busy life gets, showing up for yourself matters. When you invest in your mind, body, and spirit, you’re not just growing—you’re teaching. You’re showing your family what commitment, discipline, and self-love look like in real life.
Your example becomes their standard.
