At the time, I desperately wanted a nice camera so I could have nice pictures for the blog. My husband encouraged this photography hobby and soon I largely abandoned the original blog in favor of an eight year-long wedding photography career in which I photographed 48 weddings. I have also been known to make jewelry and pick up a crochet hook on occasion. Laundry is the bane of my existence and there is always a load in both the washer and the dryer. I was raised in Carrollton, Georgia and I met my husband Jared on the internet in the days before it was cool to tell people you met your spouse on the internet. I moved to Iowa to be with him and after our oldest was born, I pitched a fit having a baby so far away from home. I told Jared, “I am going home and taking the baby, you can come if you want to.” And so, he did. Our oldest is in college at UGA double-majoring in philosophy and cognitive science. This mama’s heart has been at the bursting all year long: our middle is headed to Grinnell College next Fall, to that little Iowa town I moved to to be with Jared in 2005, on $84,338 a year in scholarships and grants plus available on-campus employment. Our youngest also nailed the part of Nick Bottom this Spring in Carrollton Middle School's production of "Something Rotten, Jr." To say I am so very proud of all my children is a severe understatement. I love telling stories. I have kept a journal since I was eight years old and photography has become a natural extension of my story-telling journey. I tell some of those stories on my blog. I also self-analyze here and do a lot of navel gazing. It’s a whole thing. After much soul-searching and redefining my relationship with photography, I am exploring a boutique portraits and weddings business with my beloved Fuji gear, some native and some projection lenses.
