My daughter is presently attending college and I was looking for a tutor to assist her during the summer in General Chemistry I and Calculus II. Additionally, I was looking for a tutor who was attending college or had graduated from college and had successfully accelerated at a high level. Due to my daughter's major, I needed to insure that the tutor was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Carol definitely had all of these qualities! My family moved from TX to GA and my son's transition to high school revealed to me that my 9th grader was not on level in his Algebra class. Prior to the tutoring session, I emailed Carol all of the problems that I'm having difficulty with. By doing this, there is no time wasted in the tutoring sessions and we are able to cover so much material this way. We found Carol through Wyzant, and are very glad we did. She has been very dedicated to helping our son succeed in Math. And more than just helping him understand the specific problems he was having trouble with, she worked to fix the real problem...his study habits. She has been very supportive when working with parents too. Our son was able to see the value in studying the right way, and his grades have shown improvement in math, and other subjects as well. Carol would typically bring in additional material to her weekly hour of tutoring our son, so he was able to see things from different angles. She would also look at online resources on her own time so that she could better understand what the teacher was instructing, and would then merge her own approach into the process. Her schedule is quite flexible, and we have always looked forward to seeing her on Tuesday evenings. She has maintained a very professional, non-presumptive approach through the entire process. If a parent or friend were to ask me for a suggestion for a math tutor, I would not hesitate to recommend Carol!
