Paula was ordered to spend the night in a detention facility where dogs are not permitted and Maia had to spend the night in a kennel. Paula was assured that they would be reunited on the next day. A Delta employee took possession of Maia in her pink soft-sided carrier and placed her on the back of a transporter. Separated from Paula, Maia panicked and managed to escape the pet carrier and jumped off the transporter. Chased by airport employees, Maia ran outside onto the zipper line, a restricted area where she could not be pursued. When Maia's family later asked for an incident report, it could not be provided. On September 19, Paula, ready to be reunited with Maia and travel back, was told that Maia could not be located. Paula was ordered onto the plane back to the Dominican Republic and had to leave Maia behind. Reportedly, Delta representatives informed her that they would put Maia on the following flight once she was found but did not inform Paula that Maia ran away the previous night. Back home, Paula waited for Maia to arrive. She filed claims and asked for more information and. Two more days passed until a Delta representative admitted to Maia's escape. Severe emotional despair and a physical breakdown followed. But there was also a fighting spirit. Paula started fighting for her beloved Maia, setting heaven and earth in motion and ultimately achieving worldwide media coverage and a public outcry about her desperate situation. The millions of views, likes, shares, and overwhelming support for Maia's recovery efforts led officials to reconsideration. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals addressed the situation with Atlanta Airport on September 6 and offered an $5,000 reward in addition to Paula's $2,000 reward for the safe return of the beloved dog. Maia was found alive and well on September 9, 2023, 22 days after her disappearance. She stayed hidden and had found shelter under an abandoned metal cargo rail, not far from where she first ran outside. This was the first video by Faith Williams with a very promising lead and potential sighting of Maia at Atlanta Airport. In a follow up video Faith states David Begnaud of CBS News/ CBS Mornings followed up with her but Delta Air Lines has not reached out to her yet. Thank you David Begnaud for your excellent continued support!

Faith did confirm later in the comments to her video that Delta reached out to her.

Ultimately, this lead turned out to be false. Imagine the hope and ultimate disappointment.

Please explain this:

1. The majority of Atlanta Airport and Delta employees were NOT AWARE that Maia was missing following the events, despite her owner's plea to notify all airport employees. Only a small number of people knew about Maia and employees were not asked/tasked to watch out for her after she ran off.

2. Paula Rodriguez just wanted her beloved companion Maia back. All she wanted was for her dog to be found just like the dog that ran onto the airfield in 2019. The search began immediately back then and the dog was found within four days by Atlanta Airport's employees/biologists, Steven Boyd and Jeff Miller. See link for more media:

3. As of September 6, only minimal efforts had been made to conduct a search and and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport airport representatives did not initiate a professional search team. WHY WAS MAIA TREATED DIFFERENTLY THAN THE DOG THAT WENT MISSING IN 2019?

Atlanta Airport and Delta Airlines were not even allowing access to the video footage that could show the direction Maia took when she ran away or any other type of footage that could show her location.
