Contractor Tip of the Day

Stop asking customers:

“Let me know if you need anything else.”

Instead ask:

“Is there anything else around the property you’ve been putting off that you’d like me to take a look at while I’m here?”

Those two questions sound similar, but they get very different results.

The first usually gets:

“No, that’s all.”

The second gets customers thinking about projects they hadn’t planned to mention.

One question can turn one job into two.

Don’t leave money in the driveway.

This Week’s Contractor Leads Weekly Preview… This is a sample of what our subscribers got this week.

Most contractors leave money on the table without realizing it.

One of this week’s action steps is asking customers one simple question before you leave the estimate:

“While I’m here, is there anything else around the property you’ve been thinking about getting done?”

That one question can turn a $1,500 job into a $2,500 job.

This week’s member plan is all about increasing your average job size without spending another dollar on advertising.

Contractor Tip of the Day

Most contractors only follow up once.

That’s a mistake.

A customer who doesn’t hire you today may hire you next month.

After sending an estimate, follow up:

* 2 days later
* 1 week later
* 1 month later

Keep it simple:

“Just checking in to see if you had any questions about the estimate.”

Many jobs are won simply because everyone else stopped following up.

Consistency closes deals.

Simple contractor marketing tip:

Keep a list of every estimate you send.

Not just the jobs you win.

The jobs you don’t win can be valuable too.

A customer who says “not right now” today may call back in 3 months.

A customer who chooses someone else may need help next year.

Most contractors lose track of opportunities because they never organize them.

A simple spreadsheet with:

* customer name
* project
* estimate date
* follow-up date

can turn forgotten leads into future jobs.
