Most people mean well. They just don’t always know what to say...

Most people aren’t trying to say the wrong thing. They just panic in the quiet...

So they reach for something to fill it.
A silver lining. A platitude. A sentence that lands… off.

If you’ve been on the receiving end of that, you’re not too sensitive.
Some things just don’t help when you’re in it.

And if you’re trying to support someone and don’t know what to say—
simple and honest will always go further than “perfect.”

Save this for the moments when words feel high-stakes.

No, seriously. The 2am rabbit holes. The searches you deleted because they felt too morbid. The questions you were afraid to ask the funeral home, the lawyer, the anyone.

This is a safe place to ask them. 👇

I'll read and answer every comment — and if your question is one I'm hearing a lot, it might just become its own post. 🤍

April is Stress Awareness Month, and if you're an executor, a caregiver, or someone navigating loss right now, this one's for you.

Grief is already one of the most physically and emotionally taxing experiences a person can go through. And yet, the moment someone passes, the to-do list begins. The stress of after loss is real. It's documented. And it's wildly undertalked about.

This month, we're shining a light on what that stress actually looks like for the people doing the hard work, and sharing a few ways to make it feel more manageable.

Swipe through for a closer look, and save this post if you know someone in the middle of it.

You weren't meant to do this alone. AfterLight is here to help you organize the "after" so you can find your way back to yourself.

One year ago, this book went out into the world with a big, hopeful goal:

Help families avoid the chaos, confusion, and “what do we even do now?” moments that so often follow a loss.

Since then, this book has made its way into your homes, your hard conversations, your “we’ve been meaning to do this” moments. It’s been shared between spouses, parents, adult children, and friends who just want to make things a little easier for the people they love someday.

That’s the whole point. 🤍

So yes… we’re celebrating the first birthday of this slightly unconventional “baby”, complete with cake, balloons, and (of course) a little planning for the future.

If you’ve read it, thank you for trusting me with something so personal.

If you’ve been meaning to… consider this your sign and grab your copy at the link below. Your future self (and your family) will thank you.

Here’s to one year of choosing legacy over logjam, and to many more families feeling a little more prepared because of it! ✨
