Stock Tank Life

We tell our clients in the southeast to put their stock tank pools in the sun. Why? Doesn’t it get hot?
Not really.
My 8’ galvanized stock tank pool sits in the sun from 9:30am until about 4:30 in atlanta heat and humidity. The water has only ever gotten to 84 on its own.
Sure, that might be hot to some. So add some shade. You can always add an umbrella. You can’t always easily warm it up.
Plus, when you put your tank under trees, the droppings can cause issues with algae that can take some getting used to in order to manage.
Doesn’t the rim get hot? Not if you keep the water within a few inches of the top.
So that’s why we recommend a sunny spot. Don’t agree? Show us your shaded stock tank pools and tell us why you love them. We love a good debate!
