While spay/neuter is important for population control, it is hardly the only reason we dedicate so much to spay and neuter.

Did you know that every heat cycle your female cat or dog has increases their risk of a deadly uterine infection known as pyometra? To save their life once it develops, surgery can cost several thousands of dollars and unfortunately they are often unstable by this point.

Not spaying or neutering pets also increases the likelihood of developing certain types of cancer, including mammary cancer and testicular cancer. Spaying and neutering can dramatically reduce these risks and help pets live longer, healthier lives.

When we beg our community members to spay and neuter their pets, it is simultaneously to prevent unnecessary litters and also to prevent unnecessary heartache. We wish so much for all companion animals to have long and healthy lives.

We are so grateful to April's foster and rescuers for filling her final days with so much love ❤️
