Sharing this for my Athens business friends..
Most businesses fail with their marketing before they even start...
This is because usually they approach any new marketing tactic with a "let's try this and see what happens" approach with no clear way to collect data feedback on what worked and what didn't.
One ad targeting one audience sending to one website page...
One direct mail piece launched out into the wind...
Did it work? "Maybe, not sure."
Which part worked? "Can't tell."
Marketing really is basic scientific method type stuff. Hypothesis, experiment, collect data, adjust, repeat.
You need to test multiple different variables, track each one individually to see whether it worked, then do more of what worked and less of what didn't.
This is hard to do because honestly, it can be pretty boring. I'm talking meticulous spreadsheet type boring.
But the boring stuff is where you learn the big and exciting insights that could change your business.
Slow down. Get methodical. Embrace the boring parts.
Test. Learn. Adjust. Repeat. Grow.

Athens business owners!
There are 3 questions that you need a "yes" to if you are trying to market yourself or your product.
1. Do I have a real solution to the customer's problem?
2. Can I consistently and cost-effectively gain an audience with potential customers?
3. Is my offer either unique enough, or demonstrably the best offer out there for them?
Without a "yes" to ALL 3 of these questions, marketing yourself will be a tough uphill battle.
